Kompas One
Unifying a Fragmented Bundled Content Experience
Kompas.id introduced Kompas One, a bundled subscription product that integrates access to 7 media properties within a single app experience (Kompas.id app).
Within 10 months post-launch, the solution contributed to:
+295.3% increase in bundled subscribers
+142.3% growth in bundled subscription revenue
Role Product Designer
Platform Android, iOS, iPadOS
Year 2025
Problem
The current Kompas.id bundled reading experience was highly fragmented. Subscribers were required to navigate across multiple websites and apps to access content from different media partners.

Constraints
The project was delivered under significant product, platform, and timeline constraints.
Content & System Complexity
Each media partner operated with different content formats (articles, epaper)
Platform Limitations
In-app subscription purchases were not supported in the first iteration
The paywall design was required to comply with Google Play and App Store policies, which prohibit external payment redirection via active buttons or links.
Solution - Content
Given the constraints, I focused on aligning content structure, design content access flows based on membership tiers, and maintaining compliance.
Structuring the Content Experience
To reduce fragmentation, I unified content access within the app:
Article-based content → centralized in the Home page
Epaper based content → organized on Epaper page

Solution - Paywall
Handling platform constraints on paywall design
To address the platform restrictions, I designed a paywall experience that:
Clearly communicates subscription tiers and benefits
Guides users on where to complete the purchase (Kompas.id web)
Fully complies with Google Play & App Store policies

Dark Mode
Because the Kompas.id Android, iOS, and iPad apps already support dark mode, I also designed a dark mode interface for Kompas One related content to ensure visual consistency across platforms.

Impact
Within 10 months post-launch, the initiative drove substantial increases in both bundled subscriber growth and overall subscription revenue.
